RENAULT TWIZY
URBAN TRAFFIC SOLUTION
The Renault Twizy is a battery-powered two-passenger electric vehicle designed and marketed by Renault and manufactured entirely in Valladolid, Spain. Legally classified in Europe as a heavy quadricycle (light quadricycle for the lower-powered Urban 45 model), the Twizy has a maximum range of 100 km (62 mi). (Wikipedia)
The Renault Twizy is surprisingly good fun with an endearing character, even though it has obvious flaws
It is is fun to drive in town, and gets lots of attention from passers by. It’s very affordable to buy, especially for an electric vehicle.
The Renault Twizy first saw the light of day at Frankfurt in 2009 as the Twizy ZE concept.
Among that motor show’s smash hits, it effortlessly stole the limelight from Renault’s original Zoe concept. Enclosed wheels and a state-of-the-art headlamp arrangement were the only features not to make the finished article.
Renault can claim no intellectual ownership of the EV microcar concept; energy-efficient personal mobility machines have made regular appearances at shows for more than a decade.
The Renault Twizy is a novel solution to urban transport, and isn’t short of character. Don’t try using it out of its comfort zone, though. Or in the rain.
Against The cabin is completely open to the elements, and there’s a distinct shortage of storage space, equipment and security measures. The limited range and top speed mean you can’t really venture out of the city.
