To be blunt and to-the-point: Not many luxury SUVs such as the Lexus GX 2013 460 remaining in the U.S. market today, and there are many good reasons why it is. As it stands, the GX 460 is a niche vehicle that has a solid truck roots but garbled message about what it does to them and how it fits with the needs of a busy family vehicle . 

Fits into the Lexus lineup just below the Land Cruiser-based Lexus LX 570, GX 460 is very well equipped, extra-luxurious version of the Toyota Land Cruise Prado that sells in other regions of the world. It is also related to the Toyota 4Runner, but while Toyota stuck in the V-6 engines and simpler features and appointments, GX got a V-8 engine that is powerful, third row seat power-folding, and a variety of luxury and technology options that are not usually found The truck-based SUVs. Lexus levels of interior refinement expected (and delivered), of course. 

The GX is entering its fourth year in the current generation, and apart from some minor cosmetic repairs last year (color keyed bodyside molding, and high-gloss wheel finish for the new Premium models) mid-size SUVs has seen some changes. As gently rounded take on classic SUV proportions - crossed with some obligatory engine cue brightwork here and there borrowed from the Toyota Tundra pickup truck as large as - GX 460 is not extroverted or flashy. But the carved-out fenders and the tall, imposing beltline that makes it look quite trucky, and separate from the rest of the Lexus lineup, except the LX. Inside, the look and layout of the upright and trucklike, certainly, but short on typical Lexus standards for materials and trim details. 

With low running boards, chrome trim around, and what could be seen as a smooth interior, you might not expect the GX 460 into a serious rock-crawler. In that case, you would be correct; but at the same time it is certainly more than any other off-road fraudsters. There is also a low range for the body-on-frame ute tough, a number of electronic control that will help you maintain control in a variety of conditions, and the center diff lock true that you use for sand, mud, or snow. And full-time four-wheel drive system includes a Torsen center differential, distributes power 60 percent to the rear wheels in normal driving, with more sent to the rear wheels under acceleration (not only when wheel slip); so nimble in the snowy driveway, too.
