On its own merits, in 2011 Lexus GS 460 is a good choice as a luxury sport sedan. This provides the performance, prestige, comfort and many upscale features to please some of the most discerning of buyers. Pit GS 460 against some competitors from Europe, however, and its appeal fades as sedans seem to do a lot of things just a little better. 

The GS 460 is deficient, small as they are, including a little less headroom and less responsive suspension. For the average-sized driver with little desire for athletic handling, fault is easily forgiven, because Lexus is superior in almost every other category. The cabin is quiet and calm provide comfort when the segment-leading occupant wrap top-notch materials and expert craftsmanship. 

The 4.6-liter V8 produces 342 horsepower sufficient to provide relatively rapid acceleration GS 460, which should satisfy most luxury sedan buyers. It should be noted, though, that it drops power when compared to other V8 luxury sedan. There is also a V6-powered GS 350 for drivers with a smaller appetite for performance, and more fuel-efficient hybrid GS 460h - both of which are covered in a separate review. Regardless of which model you might be interested in GS, you can expect an abundance of standard features and state-of-the-art safety systems. 

Among the competitors GS 460, the biggest threat comes from Germany. 2011 BMW 5 Series offers more space and higher performance. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is hard to beat in terms of style and prestige, while the 2011 Audi A6 alternative presents a well-rounded and earthy. Luxury sedan from Asia is also worth a look, with the 2011 Hyundai Genesis represents a relatively inexpensive, as well as the 2011 Infiniti M56 with a focus on performance. Although the Lexus GS 2011 460 might not be leading in this segment, a reputation for reliability and quality should not be overlooked.
